Kristina Gintautiene is a first generation Lithuanian-American who grew up in an ethnic neighborhood in Chicago. Accordingly, her workplace is Studio Stiklas, the Lithuanian word for glass.Inherently creative, she came to stained glass via contemporary dance, earning a Bachelors, Masters, and a PhD in dance history. After teaching and choreographing until her early thirties, she went to medical school and worked for 25 years as a physician, Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Now retired in Florida, she has returned to creative expression, trading the performing arts for the visual. Gintautiene crafts one-of-a-kind encaustic and stained glass pieces, from large installed to small hung, by commission. Her art has been displayed in juried art shows, sold in galleries, and adorns local retail spaces. Her work has been included in the Imagine Museum’s glass exhibition in St. Petersburg, Florida. Giving shape and the life of light to a client’s vision is what brings her the most joy.
